There will never be another.

Let our site be yet another reminder to present and future generations that freedom is not free. It is a privilege for all Americans to cherish and protect.

Meet the men of the 134^th Assault Helicopter Company - each one a chapter in a story of courage, camaraderie, esprit de corps, and service.

In 1970, the inaugural photograph in this captivating series was taken at the Phu Hiep flightline, showcasing the Gun Platoon. Hover over the image to pause the slideshow. Why Men Who Have Been To War Yearn To Reunite

I now know why men who have been to war yearn to reunite. Not to tell stories or look at old pictures. Not to laugh or weep. Comrades gather because they long to be with the men who once acted at their best; men who suffered and sacrificed together, who were stripped of their humanity. I did not pick these men. They were delivered by fate and the military. But I know them in a way I know no other men.

I have never given anyone such trust. They were willing to guard something more precious than my life. They would have carried my reputation, the memory of me. It was part of the bargain we all made, the reason we were so willing to die for one another. As long as I have memory, I will think of them all, every day. I am sure that when I leave this world, my last thought will be of my family and my comrades.

The plaque Dick Sheehan is proudly holding was crafted by Artie Partin and awarded to Hans J. Underwood, commemorating his 13.8 years of dedicated service at that time, now years, as the webmaster for the 134^th Assault Helicopter Company Website. The THANKS signs are a testament to Hans's unwavering commitment and contributions.

Although I was unable to attend the 2011 reunion, this plaque has since found a special place in my home office.

Heavy Is The Weight Of Freedom, Blessed Are Those Who Carry It This quote captures a paradox we don't talk about enough: freedom is often imagined as weightless. It demands responsibility, clarity, courage, and sometimes sacrifice. People often imagine freedom as an escape from burdens, when in reality it's the acceptance of a deeper one, the burden of choosing, of owning your path, of standing by your values even when it's inconvenient.
